South Indian film actress Jyothi Lakshmi was a leading lady of South Indian movies.During her lifetime she appeared in more than 300 movies. Known for her glamorous look, she was a most sought after actress of Indian cinema. A versatile actress she worked in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam movies.
Born on 2nd November 1948, she made her acting debut in TR Ramanna's "Periya Idathu Penn," which starred MG Ramachandran and B Sarojadevi in the leads. A trained dancer, she shared screen space with many leading actors like MGR, Sivaji Ganesan, Jayashankar and many others. She will be ever remembered for her role in "Gandharvya Kanya," "Sita Ramulu" and "Donga Ramudu & Party" in Telugu, "Murappennu," "Inspector" and "Manushyamrigam" in Malayalam, "Pistolwali" in Hindi, and "Kulla Agent 000," "Bangalore Mail" and "Raktha kanneeru" in Kannada. Her sister Jayamalini is also a popular actor.
Yesteryear South Indian film actress Jyothi Lakshmi passed away on 8 August 2016.Suffering from Leukemia (blood cancer) she breated her last at her residence in Chennai. She is survived by her daughter Jyothi Meena. News about her death spread like fire and condolences began pouring in from every quarter on social media.
